Within Le Camelia you have a choice of B&B in the house itself with it's yoga room, private well equipped gym, quiet library, traditional and atmospheric dining room or self catering in one of the gites. There is also off road parking in the courtyard and a walled garden for those day's when you wish to just relax next to nature. In addition a selection of well being therapies can be reserved if booked in advance. 2010 sees the addition of design your own retreat. Catherine, the owner is a Master Reiki practitioner and has a group of alternative therapists living locally that are available to help make your holiday special. No enforced waking at 6am for morning meditation if you do not wish to do so. Choose from life coaching (one to one); Reflexology, pedicures, Shiatsu massage, Person centred therapy, Emotional Freedom Therapy, Bach Flower remedies (prescribed personally for you), Reiki, Thai Foot massage, Indian Head etc., Learn more about these wonderful and effective therapies.

Your Choice of Accommodation

The Cottage: (Sleeps 4+) A fully equipped two double bedroomed cottage with eat in kitchen & good sized lounge. Modern Shower room. Double bed in the main bedroom with bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom.  Possibility for extra single bed. All newly renovated to a high standard.

Cherry Tree Gite: (Sleeps 2/4) A ground floor well appointed gite with one double bedroom with french windows onto a private terrace. Good sized lounge with double bed settee and eat in kitchen. Shower room.

L'Olivier: (sleeps 2/4) A charming first floor appartment with independant access. Modern well fitted kitchen, lounge/dining with double bed settee and open chimney, double bedroom and excellent shower room.

Guest House Rooms:

Bordeaux: (Sleeps 2/3) Large (32sq. metre) magnificent south facing room with double bed and large single with en-suite modern shower room. Original marble fire place and ceiling high double windows overlooking the front garden give this room a feeling of grandeur. There is an adjoining twin room with it's own large stone balcony making this perfect for families.

Marciac: (sleeps 2) 20sq. metre twin bed room adjoining Chambre de Marciac. This room has it's own large balcony perfect for enjoying a glass of wine on those balmy nights or private sunbathing. Note: there are no private shower or bathroom facilities for this room but there is a w.c. with hand basin on the landing outside the room. *This room should be booked in conjunction with Bordeaux or Madiran.

Madiran: (Sleeps 2) Good sized (25sq metre) double bedroom north facing with it's own Juliette balcony. Room looks out onto the walled garden and the architecturally interesting barn. Original white marbled open (working) fireplace gives the room an air of elegance. 100% cotton sheets and top quality mattress ensures a peaceful nights sleep. En-suite bathroom with bath and shower over.

Golf De Chateau De Pallanne - 20 minutes Tel: 0562 70 00 06
The course is situated in the grounds of the magnificent Chateau de Pallanne. Apart from having an excellent golf course there is an superb restaurant which serves up lunch to order. Although the course is very hilly golf buggies can be hired for those not wishing to walk. The course offers a good challenge for all levels of golfers with a variety of holes, some with water hazards. One ideal aspect of this course is that it is rarely busy during the week and tee times can be easily arranged. There are also excellent views of the Pyrenees from the highest parts of the course.

Golf de Guinlet - 45 minutes Tel: 0562 09 80 84

The course is situated in the heart of the Gers just outside the lovely market town of Eauze. It is a favourite course for those who like to get out into the countryside. In fact if you go early in the morning you are likely to bump into the odd deer or two or have to chase rabbits off the tee. It is quite a hilly course so the drainage is excellent which allows it to remain open all year. The course also has a small restaurant which does lunch and a swimming pool area for those with partners who prefer to lounge at the pool. Golf buggies can be hired if available.

The course is relatively flat and is situated just on the outskirts of the famous pilgrimage town of Lourdes.

Golf de Bigorre - 50 minutes Tel: 0562 91 06 20
One of the most picturesque golf courses in all of France. The course is situated in the small town of Pouzac just outside Bagneres de Bigorre.
It is extremely hilly but offers fantastic views of the Pyrenees from almost every hole. It is a challenging course with some demanding par 4s and 5s. But the greatest challenge is playing golf at all as the views are so stunning you just have to stop and look! Golf buggies are available to hire.

Pau Golf Club - 45 minutes Tel: 0559 13 18 56

To play this course is a must for any serious golfer as it is the oldest course on mainland Europe (1856). The course was built, believe it or not, by the British Army while on their way to war! While the course itself is not demanding and fairly flat it can be tricky as the fairways do not allow any margin for error. An easy and pleasant course to walk. Situated in the beautiful city of Pau which itself offers a huge variety of designer shops and international restaurants.

Golf de Tumulus - 30 Minutes Tel: 0562 45 14 50

The course is situated in the Tarbes suburb of Laloubere. This course has improved greatly in recent years as it was originally a 9 hole course and an extra 9 holes were added about 8 years ago. These holes have now matured offering a good challenge. The course is flat but has several very interesting holes with water hazards and others where you have to thread your ball through an avenue of pine trees. Watch out for low flying planes on the 6th and 7th holes!

A small course in the centre of the racecourse where all the holes are par 3s bur offering a bit of fun. Excellent for beginners or those who do not have a lot of time.

French Country Cooking Workshops

Ever fancied spending some time in France learning how to prepare and cook some simple french cooking?  We are not talking Haute Cuisine here but how to make a good 'cassoulet' (local casserole of beans and meat), a good 'garbure' (thick meaty, vegetable soup), how to make confit (preserved duck); french apple pie etc., This is very often the pleasurable food that you eat while on holiday in France and want to re-create when you are at home.  Simple, tasty but inexpensive. 

Le Camelia offers superb accommodation with cookery courses for small groups.  Enjoy a short break in a beautiful area of France while learning something new.  These are held from March to May and from September to November.

Walking and/or Cycling Holidays (self-guided)

Spring and Autumn are the most perfect time of year to enjoy the delights of the local countryside and both walking or cycling is a perfect way to explore the local area. Bikes of all types, road, mountain, racing etc., can be hired from the local shop enabling cyclists of all abilities to enjoy some pure mountain air. Maps with route suggestions offering a choice of countryside or mountains are available. 

There is a huge selection of Pyrenean walks available.  On a walking holiday you are offered a number of walks each one graded and timed showing areas of interest on route. For meals you can choose from a backpack with a packed lunch or restaurant suggestions. On your return to Le Camelia there's a hot shower, aperitifs and a well earned meal before retiring for a peaceful nights sleep (or if you still have energy, a night at one of the local fetes!).

 

 

Wine Tours

We offer a choice of wine tours lasting from 3 to 5 days. It is posssible, if desired to mix a golfing holiday with a wine tour. The tours take place in the Gers and the Haute Pyrenees visiting a number of Chateaux and domains in the Madiran, Viella and St. Mont wine producing regions.  Special offers and special promotions are available at certain Chateaux for our clients.

We offer a luxury wine tasting long weekend. This is for small groups only and entails a Champagne cocktail reception on the Friday followed by an informal get together supper. Sat morning is spent visiting 2 Domaines with tasting, lunch at a local restaurant then the afternoon with a visit and tasting session at Chateaux Laffitte Teston. Back to Le Camelia for a gourmet 7 course evening meal with selected wines from the Chataux.

Accommodation is a choice of standard or luxury rooms with flowers, chocolates and a bottle of wine.  There is also the option of private accommodation in self contained appartments if you would prefer.
